The allure of an all-public-cloud approach is waning as more businesses return to traditional datacenter models. This shift is driven by the cost predictability and proven uptime of traditional colocation and private cloud setups. Almost all surveyed decision-makers express regret over previous public cloud-only approaches, with just 6% satisfied with their cloud-first strategies.

Financial implications are a significant concern, with 77% of respondents facing unexpected costs after switching to cloud services. A notable 63% found these services more expensive than maintaining their previous IT infrastructures, leading to doubts about the financial benefits of cloud migration.

Migration to the cloud has also presented operational challenges. An overwhelming 98% of businesses reported encountering issues during the migration process, while 57% experienced significant delays. Post-transition, 44% required additional training for managing new cloud infrastructures, and 31% struggled with integration issues with existing IT systems.

Compliance and security issues are particularly pressing, with 62% of respondents finding it difficult to meet regulations.
